I have been a registered Republican and have supported the GOP all of my adult life but I simply cannot support the continued policies of GWB. Ashcroft has sent a memo to all 94 U.S. Attorney's offices instructing them to seek the harshest possible sentences for drug crimes. The link is HERE. The sooner this president is returned to Texas, the better. Go Wes Clark!

Updated my blog template to remove the 'draft Wesley Clark' image. He has announced that he will be a candidate for President so there is no need for the advertisement.

My trip went well. I am still a little tired but should recover soon.

Reading a blog (actually a live journal) just about made me cry. This kid is not the Jordan that I have been helping but I have been reading his journal for a while and really feel for him and for his mother. Wow.

Long day. Audit at my Orange client. LA Fitness for a lite workout and short run. Dinner at FoxFire. Lower back still hurts but is getting better. Will be out of town till Friday.

Sunday, September 21, 2003

Didn't do much this weekend. My lower back has really been bothering me and I had a very difficult time walking yesterday. Needless to say, there was no visiting LA Fitness over the weekend.

Upcoming week should be interesting. Will be working with my client in Orange on Monday then out of town returning on Friday.

Time to rest.

Looks like a 11 Judge panel of the 9th Circuit may allow the recall election in California to proceed. We should have a decision hopefully sometime next week.

Made it to the gym on Tuesday and Wednesday. Run is still difficult. Still fighting the bug I got on the East coast but am improving. Still smoking. Nothing much new. FDA was closed yesterday and today due to the storm and this makes getting medical device approval difficult. I need a different job. COnsidering returning to school to get a law degree. Not sure if I have the wind in my sails.

Kick back day. Nothing really new. Made it to the gym. Another very lite workout. My lungs are still not up to par in part because of that damn smoking and in part due to my east coast illness. But I am getting better.

Rest time.
The opinion of the 9th Circuit that will delay the recall election is linked HERE. I read it. All 66 pages. It is well written and will likely stand. If the US Supreme Court overturns this, that opinion should prove to be good reading. As much as I would like to see the recall proceed, it is hard to argue with this opinion. Such is life.

This may be good. First, it will likely result in Davis having to deal with significant budgetary problems and this should be interesting. Secondly, it should give the GOP time to get their shit together and get the unelectable right wing canditate out of state wide politics. This should permit the GOP to get someone on the ballot that has a chance of winning during the next election.

Bottom line - I don't see the recall passing if it is delayed and this may be good for the GOP in the long run.

Such is life. And the train keeps on rollin.

Made it to the gym yesterday for a brief workout and short run. Politics of the day is that there will be a delay in the California recall. Sometimes the 9th Circuit gets it right, sometimes they don't.

No gym on Friday or today. But I am recovering and I hope to make it there on Sunday.

Today was pretty much kick back. I spent some time with a hoodlum that got me started helping these crazy kids. It was Will. The kid has partied all summer, was filthy and looks like shit. He is living in a run down house in Garden Grove that is occupied with tweekers. He was scheduled to turn himself in to do 30 days in the slammer and he is shining that. The boy really needs to get off the drugs and alcohol and remove his head from his ass. I hope he does but I know he will in his time not according to my schedule.

Today I bought a cordless optical mouse. I got so tired of cleaning and fighting with my mouse that I decided to upgrade. Tax and all the cost was aboyt $43. All of those who think that I am fiscally conservative (tight) need to reconsider.

Interesting day yesterday. Looks like I have a great chance of picking up another client locally. This is good because I hate traveling. I am feeling a little better but the bug I caught while traveling is really one that takes a toll. Maybe I will try the gym today.

During my recent trip I stopped to visit my father in Huntington, West Virginia. I wasn't there long but while there I heard of a kid that was in jail for drinking underage and not taking care of the ticket. He had just turned 21 and it was looking as if he was going to have to spend about 10 days in a jail without air conditioning while awaiting a trial or sentencing. It made me sick. His bail was $100. So I paid the $100. Needless to say, he was a happy kid to be free. The kid's name is Daniel J. Kelley and the jail is Cabell County, West Virginia.

Every time I visit that area I see more bullshit in less time than anywhere else in the world. I promised that I will never again set foot in that state for as long as I shall live. The thought of that place simply makes me sick.

Thank God I am back. The human body simply isn't designed to sit on airplanes where people are coughing nonstop for hour after hour. Finished early, cut my trip short and am damn glad to be back in Southern California. And yes, I am sick. It seems as if every time I travel to the East coast, I get a cold. Hopefully it won't last and all will be better soon.

Very interesting trip. More to come.

Leaving for the East Coast later today. All packed and ready for the flight. Got caught up on work today and all should be well. Made it to the gym. A good run and limited upper body workout.

Likely be few posts for the next few days unless I can get to a puter. Should return 14 September.

Keep the faith.

Another day done. Had the management meeting at my client in Orange. Was a waste of time. But we did it. Went to the gym did a quick few crunches and my normal pre-run routine and then ran. Too hot. Then off to my board meeting which lasted forever. Tired. Don't feel well. Rest time.

Tuesday, September 02, 2003

My work out continues. Ran today in 34:57 which is a minute faster than Saturday. Another good work out followed. I increased the free weights that I toy with from 30 lbs each hand to 35. Also decreased the amount of assist from the assisted pull ups from 10 to 9 (don't remember the exact weight that this translates to but will get it next time.)

Busy week coming. Traveling Thursday. Meeting at my client in Orange on Tuesday at 1:30 pm. Executive board meeting later in the day for a professional organization that I allowed myself to get sucked into.

No alcohol since last Thursday. I hope to be better with the drinking and then get off the smokes. Wish me luck.

Monday, September 01, 2003

Made it to the gym on Saturday and had a great workout. Ran the trek without stopping (35:58) which isn't too bad for a fellow that smokes too much and drinks too much. Did a pretty good upper body workout also. Added inclined situps to the routine in addition to my normal crunches.

Kick back day today. Did a little work in preparation for my management review meeting at my client in Orange on Tuesday. Caught up on general paperwork and the home office looks a little better.

Will be out of town traveling to the East coast from 04 September through the 14th. It will be good to get away. Not that I want to sound like my blogger friends that seems to be anti-Los Angeles.
